73 x 59 x 0.8 mm. Shim made of refractory material for increasing the profile height of a group gasket in cases where portafilter wear causes the portafilter to engage in the group head beyond the six o'clock position. This is installed first, then the rubber group portafilter gasket is pushed up against it. Using the portafilter with no basket inside it is a great way to seat the rubber gasket.

If you have an older machine, and the portafilter locks in too far to the right or leaks even when it is very tight, yes!
Replace this paper shim with every group gasket change. Don't forget to remove all of the old material!
This moves the gasket sealing surface lower in the group head, allowing the portafilter basket to contact earlier, and creating a tighter seal and firmer feel.
