INSTALLATION

Involves working inside the boiler around the heating element and mains wiring, so a qualified technician is recommended.

PRO TIPS

  • PTFE gaskets take a compression set once torqued down and heat-cycled — always fit a new gasket when you pull a heating element rather than reusing the old one, even if it looks intact.
  • No sealant or thread-locker is needed on a PTFE flat gasket; over-tightening the retaining nut is more likely to cause a leak (by deforming the gasket unevenly) than under-tightening.
