  • Copper gaskets work-harden after repeated heat cycles — if you see water weeping from the group during backflush or brewing, replace this gasket rather than just re-torquing the chamber, since a hardened copper seal won't re-seat no matter how tight it's drawn.
  • Install a fresh gasket dry, with no thread sealant or grease — the copper is meant to cold-flow slightly under clamping pressure to form the seal.
