VIVREAU Temporary Water Hardness Test Kit
A drop-count titration kit for measuring calcium carbonate (temporary hardness) in your water supply — essential for confirming your water is safe for espresso machines with brass or copper boilers before you install a filter or run the machine on a new water source.
SPECIFICATIONS
- Includes: 1 dropper of testing solution, 1 measurement beaker, 1 conversion chart
COMPATIBILITY
- Fits: any espresso machine with a brass or copper boiler that needs a water hardness check before setup or filter selection
INSTALLATION
No installation — this is a simple manual test, no tools required.
Additional resources: Spec Sheet, Water Test Training (download only), Water Basics Brochure, Filter Brochure, Water Fact Sheet, and our Return Policy. Learn more about VIVREAU water filtration.
PRO TIPS
- Run the tap until the water is cool before testing (hot tap water throws off the reading), then fill to the 5 mL mark and add drops one at a time while swirling — the color runs purple after the first drop and the test is done the moment it turns stable yellow. Overshoot by a couple of drops and you'll under-read your hardness.
- Use the included conversion chart to translate your drop count into grains or ppm before choosing a water filter cartridge — guessing at hardness is how people end up with a filter that's undersized for their actual water and scales the boiler early anyway.
